You might quibble with some of the specifics, but overal
this is an excellent article:

So how do you know whether a puppys had a good start in
life? Plan on doing some footwork. Purchasing a purebred
puppy should entail at least the same amount of thought
and research youd put into buying a new appliance or
car, if not more. After all, youll likely spend anywhere
from $500 to $3,000 for a companion that will spend the
next 10 or more years with you.

Your best bet is a breeder who belongs to national and
local breed clubs and has signed the clubs code of
ethics. But even thats not foolproof, says French
Bulldog breeder James Dalton in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Furminator NICE - I got a medium furminator and let me tell you it nicely takes hair off the dogs. A lab and a corgi both yielded handfuls of hair in 30 seconds. I'm keeping this thing! Hopefully I won't have to vacuum 3 times a week like I do now !!!

Irish Terrier, what a nice dog. - Experience of one. He's here for two weeks and has spent two nights - I hate how takes up space on the bed and can't be moved. Friday loves him. To those who know the breed: are they all so mellow? Can they also be drivey/mellow? I'll post..

Breeding Chihuahuas - Minimum Age For Breeding Chihuahua My 11 month old chihuahua is in her second heat. Because it was close to her first heat I took her to the veterinarian. The vet told...

Boxers - Hmm.. was browsing the messages here and ran across a discussion about boxers. Until I looked up boxers on akc.org, I didn't realize what they were. The akc says they have wonderful personalities and are good with kids.. but another site I checked..

Fox terriers - We have two smooth haired Fox terriers. The younger one (about 2 years) has an anti-social habit. He occasionally does a few little pebbles in the house. The older one has never done that. They both have access to the outside back yard when we are not..
